I bought this TV a year ago after extensive searching for information, and decided to spend more than my original budget - I'm very glad I did!
It replaced a defunct Hitachi 28" CRT widescreen, and the visible area of this 26" is almost exactly the same! CRT screen widths included the non viewable area of course.
Apart from the fact it was an award winner, I bought it for the 100hz refresh rate and the reviewers' assertion that it has an excellent standard definition picture. As I have no HD sources, it would work mainly in SD mode.
I've never been a fan of digital tv pictures, coming from a computing background I've always noticed the digital artifacts and pixellation especially in fast moving/flashing images. But I have to say that they fade into the background on this TV, and for the first time digital pictures don't annoy me ;-).
As to inputs, I changed my DVD connection from SCART to Composite recently, and the picture is very very good. The SCART cables were good quality but can't match proper composite video signals. I don't have an upscaling DVD player however so I can only assume true HD is even better.
Was it worth the extra expense? Absolutely yes!

I have had this TV for over 12 months now and it is excellent, had no problems whatsoever good clear screen and sound.
By I. Bates (York England)
Absolutely stunning performance, both picture and sound quality are excellent. It's easy to set up, clear concise instructions, I had it running in 10 minutes from plugging it in. I also ran it back to back with my old Sony wide screen CRT set, the difference was absolutely staggering. Full marks Panasonic !!!!!

This offers very good value at £400 - not too over-bearing size and is a Which? best buy too (80%)
I was going to buy a £550-600 Pan TX32" LXD70 (100Hz); then realised jumping from a 21" normal TV to a 32" widescreen might not be a smart move. Do I want to be one of those people in a semi whose TV screen is half the size of their lounge?
Previously I'd noticed some friend's 32" screens seemed blurry and it wasn't because they were inferior Samsung or Sony- we were sitting too close.
I read up about screen sizes and decided 32" was too big for my 12' x 14' room size. I sit maybe 6-7ft away from this 26" model and it's fine. It's also £150 - £200 cheaper than the 32" version and it's also less power hungry than larger screens.
Handy to be able to plug the PC into it to, should the need arise.
Sound could be better perhaps, but for most users inc. me, it's fine and a lot better than I was used to.

This is the first LCD tv I've ever bought, I'd been putting it off each year believing that they still had some way to go before being as good as the best CRTs (old Sony Triniton 100Hz tvs for example).
I have to say I was nicely surprised once I had set it up, as long as you've got a healthy reception the digital broadcast images are very good. I find the colours a bit intense on some channels, though I suspect this is due to the broadcast signal rather than the TV.
Plenty of inputs though for connecting a PC you are limited to analogue VGA, that said with a good graphics card the picture is still very good (way better than what'd you'd get on a CRT tv and more than adequate for web browsing, watching movies etc).
Sound is also better than expected, the audio line out is brilliant for connecting to a hifi-amp, though is fixed in level so you'll need a hifi remote to adjust the volume from the sofa.
The rec-timer funtion is one of my fav features, it can be programmed to send any digital broadcast down the smartlink Scart port to your older VCR/DVD recorder while the TV is off (effectively giving you a Sky+ style recorder). Of course you still have to set the timer on your video :-) This also removes the need to pass the broadcast signal through the VCR before connecting to the TV which can often cause interference.
All in all, good value, perhaps not quite as good as the best CRTs but for £425 you really can't complain.

I needed a TV for my daughters bedroom makeover. I very nearly bought a cheaper 32", strange make, with fair reviews from Ebuyer.
But I didn't.
I virtually always go for a premium brand, and am a great believer in the phrase Price is forgotten long after quality is remembered.
In the end I found this £100 off, and I was able to use my company discount. Bottom line I Paid £380. So a good price.
I was not expecting the digital free view, so we were delighted to get this as a bonus. Loads of extra channels, and some really good ones, Film4/ Sky news/ music channels plus a raft of others.
Picture quality - from my aerial was crystal clear, its HD ready, but I haven't used this mode yet.
Wall mounting - easy to do. It didn't come with a kit, I bought one online from www.av4home.co.uk (£33 including next day delivery).
I had to cut off the moulded plug, and replace with another one, so I could hide the wires away. It comes with a lead, which you cannot detach from the TV, and it is about 1.5m long.
Looks great on the wall, and picture quality is fabulous.
Nice one.

I purchased this TV due to competitive price and Sony reputation. I have to say i am dissapointed. The sound is pretty good, and there are good connectivity options: 2 scart and HDMI, and good features such as Freeview and the ability to freeze frame the TV picture, but the picture quality is pretty poor through my aerial and still pathetic when watching SKY. It strangely has a fantastic picture quality when playing my xbox 360 however, as it is HD, and i've heard it to be the case that non HD signals appear badly on HD tvs, but i don't expect this to be the case when paying (at the time) £550.
This is an average TV at best, and it's well worth paying a bit extra for a much better picture quality

An excellent TV at a great price, however very unhappy with delivery. Amazon promise
1. e-mail on depatch, didn't get this!
2. Courier will phone to arrange 4 hour slot, did not phone!
3. Courier will unwrap and check for damage,Didn't happen!
Unknown to me TV was delivered to a neighbour, no card through my door, so neighbour could have kept it!
I would not order an expensive item again from Amazon. Shame really as they were by far the cheapest and the product is excellent.
By canavar (London)
great TV, 2 scarts and looks gorgeous in my living room cabinet!
only gripe would be the factory settings for the display but can quickly be corrected by fiddling with the display settings accessed easily by sony's intuitive menu system.

Purchased one of these from here 16 mths ago. It's an OK TV, Does what it says on the box but 4 mths out of manufacturers warranty it broke. First the sound started to play up then No picture. LG weren't interested and don't expect simpathy from seller either.

I've had this TV now for 6 months and am pleased with my decision the picture is great with high def sources but can suffer with standard def ones. The colors are good, however on dark scenes like with many LCD televisions the blacks can start to go a bit blue. Other websites may say 1080p input, this means that on external sources you can set it to 1080p but it will display it in 720p,which is still a nice touch bearing in ming most others will only accept 720p sources. The speakers on this TV like all televisions are a bit weedy and lack bass same as my Panasonic TH42-PX70 and all others but get some home cinema via the optical input. This TV has optical output, s-video input, 1rgb scart sending signal both ways, one standard scart sending signals both ways, component input, composite input, 3 1.3v HDMI inputs, VGA input, 3.5mm jack INPUT ONLY, PCMIA input. Be warned it has no power off button just standby if you want it off turn it off at the wall another thing some times the color can be unrealistic, but great for small bedrooms.

Excellent lcd tv for the money. Installation was easy, the auto tuner does it all for you. The sound and picture quality is very good, the tv itself looks very stylish!
I had been looking at 22" to 26" LCD's with freeview for my bedroom for about three to four months, very pleased I decided on this one. I recommend this tv to anyone who wants a tv in the above criteria (include lounge), at £300 this should be taken advantage of.
Once again Amazon deliver on-time and the goods were well packaged and delivered damage free.
By M. A. Rafferty (Manchester)
I bought this as a bedroom accessory as the one i had before it was a smaller outdated one, the TV has everything you need including three HDMI outputs :) The TV is very easy to set up,it has the standard auto tune function, picture is great, sound is great, all in all a very good buy for the price, The TV was also delivered 24hrs after the order was placed and arrived in perfect condition, well done Amazon. This i the third time i have used your service now and its great to see that you are one of those company's that actually deliver on time :).
Thanks.

Got this for the mother-in-law, to replace smaller UMC LCD TV. Great picture, vibrant colour. Easy set-up. Remote control a bit complex for the mother-in-law, but then they all are. Built in Freeview & 8 day EPG is easy. A bit fiddly to use with an old VHS tape recorder - have to manually switch to AV1 input each time. Otherwise fine.

HAVE HAD THIS TELEVISION FOR A YEAR NOW WITH NO PROBLEMS,WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS MODEL,BUT IN HINDSIGHT SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT 32". BUT STILL VERY SATISFIED, BILL.
By Bingibongi
Like any LCD TV - performance depends on the input signal. A strong detailed signal such as that from blu-ray will show this TV off to its best. A weak, poor signal (such as that of the Freeview music channels) & you'll be wondering whats wrong with it. But you cant blame Sony for that.
It has plenty of connections - the 3 HDMI sockets are particularly useful.
Although only 1080i (not the ultimate 1080p) it really does display high def really well. At this size you would probably be hard pressed to notice the difference in display modes. Blu-rays are astonishing to watch on this TV - the detail and colours are amazing.
It's not without its faults. When I first received it I was underwhelmed by the picture to say the least - it really was rather poor. However over several weeks it appeared to settle down & improve. I suspect that LCD TVs need a period of burning in before they reach optimum performance - something that may/should normally be done in the factory.
There is also occasional motion blur & colour bleed & dark scenes can somteimes be a little grainy.
Give it a quality input (ie blu-ray or HD TV) & this TV will shine.

This is the third Bravia I have purchased, the first being for my teenage sons bedroom, and one for my Father in law, so impressed with them i HAD to upgrade our old Sony triniton 21" main tv in lounge. This 26v4000 is even better than the models i bought for my reltives over the last year. had considered something from Samsung range having used one on hotel stay, but reviews didnt impress re sound quality. Glad i went for the Sony each time. Kids find Xbox play great on it and wife and I have added HDD recorder.

Only my second time dealing with amazon and I cannot fault them! Excellent service and you can track more or less exactly when your purchase will arrive. And no problem with this TV either! High quality whichever way you look at it. My only quibble is that I now want a 32-incher!
By S. Cotten (Gloucestershire, England)
Very pleased with the Sony Bravia 26" digital HD television bought at the end of March 2009. Having researched and compared prices of the above model of this television I found that Amazon prices were the most reasonable at that time, indeed! I wouldn't hesitate to use Amazon again, very prompt delivery service.

LG26LG3000 26" widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview.
Well, that's what it says on the tin and basically that's what it is! It's compact, shiny and 'HD Ready', unlike our existing old fashioned bloated TV which simply isn't ready yet. But, then, old fashioned bloated ME isn't really ready yet either.
What attracted me to the product? - Good price, special 'voice clear mode' (one of our viewers has a hearing aid and can have difficulty distinguishing voices from background noise), lots of input sockets, in-built Freeview, special computer game mode for console users.
How did it measure up? - The sound isn't great and 'voice clear mode' makes no discernible difference. The gaming mode just makes the screen a bit dimmer so we don't use it. The Freeview seems to work well and the copious inputs are well placed and convenient, plus the overall unit size is great - so compact for such a sized screen.
Overall then, nothing majorly wrong, but I feel a bit disappointed. Old fashioned CRT TVs have a much clearer picture, especially with long panning shots and fast action, which frankly hurts my eyes with its jumpiness on this TV (and, probably all LCD TVs that I've seen, truth be told - this new technology with high resolution and HD readiness - is it really just a bit of Emperor's New Clothes?).
If you were the marketing department, but obliged to tell the truth, you'd sum this up as "Not bad for the price, but really nothing to get very excited about if you don't ABSOLUTELY HAVE to make use of the third of a cubic metre of volume in your living room that will be freed up by such a thin TV".
By I. K. Innes
Plugged in, switched on, waited for the tuning to finish, voilá.
Decided it had definitely been time to get rid of the old one, a fraction the mass and bulk it's sitting on a corner shelf looking good. Well pleased.

bought this tv for my mum 1st time shes had a lcd tv,pic quality is very good and the set up is very easy no instructions required, would buy lg lcd again but maybe in a bigger size
By R. Cassey (Staffordshire)
I had this tv delivered this morning, went through dixons as they had it on offer, after reading other reviews I was excited about receiving my delivery, the set up on the stand was a bit awkward as you have to screw it on to the base-obviously taking care not to scratch your new tv!
Plugged in Sky and my Xbox-upset to find the picture quality and colour to be poor, you do have options for changing the settings but this still does not really improve the shadowing or blurring of the actual picture. Also disappointed with the sound quality-as stated before it is very tinny, and although again you can change the sound format, the compressed sound does not improve-have organised for the tv to be picked up for return-so now back to searching for a new TV :-(
I have spent alot of time reading the reviews as I rely heavily on them when Ordering online, Please take my advice and do not buy this tv, It really is not worth the money or hassle of return!
By M. Whorley
I took a gamble on this set sight unseen but am very pleased with it. For me the design of a TV is very important and the LG oozes style. The whole package is very well put together and it performs admirably on all fronts. The Toshiba was available for slightly less money but it design was bland and dated. Possibly too small for a main TV but ideal for a bedroom or second room.
