The illuminator is powered by 2 AA batteries (not included) which makes the microscope independent of any external electrical sources. Also advantageous is its lightness, despite having a great optical quality. Optimal performance is guaranteed for observations of coins, minerals, stamps, small electric components, etc. A box with mineral samples is included.

As you would expect from the price of this add-on lens it does not produce photographs of the quality of a dedicated fish-eye lens but there again you are not paying the price of a dedicated lens! How ofen would an amateur photographer use a fish-eye lens anyway? With this lens there is some loss of sharpness around the periphery of the image but it can produce some amazing effects when the subject is chosen carefully - plenty of vertical or horizontal lines work best or framing with vertical lines. This lens is excellent value for someone who wants to experiment with this effect from time to time. Its a good item to have in your accessory bag especially for some weird architectural shots. If you use it for portraits the subject will not thank you! Works well on a Sony A350 with an 18-70mm lens with almost 180 degree coverage at 18mm.

Overall good value for money for a lens which may not be used everyday but can give some amazing effects. Excellent and efficient delivery service from 47th Street Photo considering they dispatch from the USA.

I bought this fisheye adapter for my daughter who is studying A level photography. She has a Sony Alpha 350. After spending a long time reading reviews and deciding whether to spend a lot more on a proper fisheye lens I opted for this cheap adapter. I have no doubt that if you are looking for the very best quality results you will need to spend at least 4 times as much for a Russian lens, or nearly 10 times for a Sony lens, however if you want to experiment and see if the fisheye experience is for you this is a great starting point. The results are good and its easy to use, so don't be put off by the fact it's an adapter or that the price is very reasonable. Also don't stress over the fact its going to be shipped from the USA because the service from 47th Street Photo was absolutely first class. I simply could not believe that I ordered the lens on a Sunday and had it on the Wednesday. And I was informed by email when the item was dispatched and when it had been signed for. If only all sellers gave such great service.

I've always wanted a fisheye lens, but could never justify it. This does the job well enough for the occasional shot - just don't expect super quality from it. There's significant distortion and chromatic aberration at the edges - that said, it does give you a fisheye effect without having to shell out many hundreds of pounds. You do need to use it on a wideangle lens to make it work (ie less than 20mm on a DX camera). The "macro lens" that it comes with is just a lens you screw on the end of a normal lens like the "close-up lenses" of the 70s that worked with 35mm compacts. Again, not great optically but lets you get in close - if that's your thing, you'd probably be better off getting a set of the Opteka extension tubes - very cheap and as there's no glass involved the quality isn't degraded from the lens you have.

I have a Nikon DSLR and considering how expensive a Nikon fisheye lens is (£500+), this fisheye lens adaptor does a good job and is excellent value for money. In addition, the seller provides an additional adaptor ring to cover lens rim sizes between 52 and 72mm, as well as a mini-tripod free of charge.

Given the price of proper fish eye lenses this is an absolute steal at the price if you just want to dabble and take some fun fish-eye style photos. Used it with my Canon 450D and screwed it onto a standard 18-55mm lens. Got some funky results. Best used for quirky close-ups or capturing slices of 'urban life'. For sweeping cityscapes you'll need a proper lens but if you're not a professional then this lens should be enough for you. Great fun. Great price.

Hello Team, Just been doing some test shots of my new "Fisheye" which arrived in 2 days from 47th Street Photo by FedEx this morning and what seems customary, it came with a 10 piece free gift which even included a mini tripod, wow what a company. I took some shots using the Canon 18 - 55mm lens which came with the 500D, set at the 18mm end, I then added the Opteka Fiseye, which screws onto the filter thread by means of the supplied 52 to 58 ring and took the same views. The resulting shots show no deterioration in image quality from those taken using the Canon lens on it's own. A great lens at a great price. I will be ordering further Opteka products. This is a great product if you want to do fish eye effect photos. On max zoom the picture become a "bubble" on my 18-55 lens but this to be expected as this is attachment to the lens rather than lens on its own right.

Otherwise great effect and if you compare the price, well worth it. The service from 47st photo is absolutely great, got delivered to uk within 2 days. Thanks guys.
