This item was delivered unbelievably quickly!

When trying it out, I thought at first it wasn't compatible with a Nikon D40, as the autofocus didn't work. However, some research combined with trial and error proved that you have to get very close to the subject, and need plenty of light. It is also very sensitive to movement, so shooting flowers on a windy day is not a good idea.

When you get it right, the images are lovely and sharp, and it's a clever shortcut to macro photography.

This lens is an ideal way to delve into macro photography without breaking the bank. It produces excellent results when used as intended, but can also deliver up some interesting effects when used "outside it's envelope". For example, it created a mild fisheye effect when used to photograph our german shepherd dog from about four feet away.

All in all, a fabulous lens for the price, and delivery from the USA took less than a week.

I have just received the Opteka 10 x Macro Lens and am delighted with it already, not even having used it yet. It looks and feels like a good quality lens. I've fitted it onto the camera and the 55mm thread is a precise fit, with no snags, just as you would expect. It comes with a small pouch to keep it in.



I also received a free gift from 47th Street Photo. As a previous reviewer has noted, it consists of a 7 piece accessory kit, which includes screen protectors, a lens cleaning kit and a neat mini-tripod with flexible legs and a belt hook. I can see the mini-tripod, in particular, getting plenty of use.



When compared with the price of a full-size macro lens, this is a very good option. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get up close with their camera.



I'd also recommend this particular supplier. Apart from the free gift, the service is excellent. Delivery, which was by Fedex, took only a week or so, even though the lens is shipped from Brooklyn, New York.

I'm using this with a Sony A200, as an actual macro lens is a bit of a stretch for me at the moment, but I still wanted to try some close up photography. I've got some fantastic results out of it, it takes a little bit of getting used to but is well worth it. I work in print, so tried printing out a couple of images at 1300mm x 1000mm and even at that size the detail and clarity is really good, for instance a baby tomato filling the frame, with all the tiny hairs perfectly sharp. Well worth the money.

As you would expect from the price of this add-on lens it does not produce photographs of the quality of a dedicated fish-eye lens but there again you are not paying the price of a dedicated lens! How ofen would an amateur photographer use a fish-eye lens anyway? With this lens there is some loss of sharpness around the periphery of the image but it can produce some amazing effects when the subject is chosen carefully - plenty of vertical or horizontal lines work best or framing with vertical lines. This lens is excellent value for someone who wants to experiment with this effect from time to time. Its a good item to have in your accessory bag especially for some weird architectural shots. If you use it for portraits the subject will not thank you! Works well on a Sony A350 with an 18-70mm lens with almost 180 degree coverage at 18mm.

Overall good value for money for a lens which may not be used everyday but can give some amazing effects. Excellent and efficient delivery service from 47th Street Photo considering they dispatch from the USA.

I bought this fisheye adapter for my daughter who is studying A level photography. She has a Sony Alpha 350. After spending a long time reading reviews and deciding whether to spend a lot more on a proper fisheye lens I opted for this cheap adapter. I have no doubt that if you are looking for the very best quality results you will need to spend at least 4 times as much for a Russian lens, or nearly 10 times for a Sony lens, however if you want to experiment and see if the fisheye experience is for you this is a great starting point. The results are good and its easy to use, so don't be put off by the fact it's an adapter or that the price is very reasonable. Also don't stress over the fact its going to be shipped from the USA because the service from 47th Street Photo was absolutely first class. I simply could not believe that I ordered the lens on a Sunday and had it on the Wednesday. And I was informed by email when the item was dispatched and when it had been signed for. If only all sellers gave such great service.
