Good quality finish and sound. Great analogue clock, though (as expected) it is quite large. More features than I'm likely to need. Easy to set up, though a little bit fiddly, e.g. if you want to cancel the alarm before it goes off so as not to wake your partner. Per other reviews it is very bright even on it's one dimmed setting, doesn't overly bother me but I don't understand why they didn't design it with a very dim setting - this could still be seen easily at night and in the day the analogue clock is so large you don't need any light. A shame, as it is too bright for my wife's taste it will get demoted to the spare room.

Due to the relatively high price for an alarm I was not sure whether to buy this item - so glad I did. The sound quality is good and I find it easy to use especially as the instruction booklet seems to make sense.
By P. Law (UK)
Good features as already documented by other reviewers, must disagree with the 'buzzer not loud enough' It starts quietly and builds to a max volume set by a concealed knob to quite acceptable level for me and also changes tonal pattern every 20 secs or so to keep you alert.
My main criticism is it has no non-volatile memory therefore a power cut looses all your saved stations and alarms - annoying. Why not use the SD card to store settings Mr Roberts if you must penny pinch on no internal flash memory.
The SD card playback only 'sees' files in the root folder so all your files are bundled together with no chance of putting them into separate album folders.
And finally the most annoying feature is toggling through DAB-FM-SD-Aux functions the SD option always hangs for 4 to 5 secs each time as it scans the SD card which is frustrating as you then over press and the loop overshoots what you want then it hangs again next time around.
All the above niggles could be sorted by firmware changes please consider Mr Roberts it would make your good product GREAT.

The basic function of this item is a clock radio/alarm so I was very disappointed to find that it doesn't have an alarm skip facility. This means that if you have a day off & want a lie in you have two options a) Wait for the alarm to go off & cancel it or b)The previous evening go through alarm settings which is four or five key presses to turn the alarm off. Then the next day you have to remember to do it all again to turn it back on. I did Email Roberts but just got the reply "It is unfortunate but our products do not have the skip function you require" so in that respect it is not a very user friendly item.
However I was impressed with it's other features which have been documented previously.
For a clock radio the sound is quite good.
I live in a poor reception area but still managed to tune into about 20 DAB stations with a full signal strength.

I have been unsure about how to rate this item as some of the "faults" are subjective. I have been looking for a DAB Radio Alarm Clock as I like Radio 7, my personal requirements are 1. at least two Alarms one with a very loud buzzer/Bleeper - I tend to be half awake through the first alarm and then get up quickly when the buzzer goes off.
This Clock has many excellent functions but the buzzer is not even as loud as a quiet mobile phone, therefore as it would never have woken me up. I therefore had to return it. I will point out that the Clock does have a lot of alarm functions if you are Ok without a buzzer.
2. I always set my alarm clock 10 minutes fast - this is to scare myself into jumping out of bed when the bleeper goes. This was not possible with this DAB radio and I have a nasty feeling that it is true with all DAB radio Alarm Clocks because they cleverly keep perfect time. If anyone could confirm this I would be grateful
Lastly a minor point -I was also looking forward to the pretty blue light in the picture but in the "flesh" the light was a sort of dull grey - disappointing. (By the way you can now dim the light if it too bright as mentioned in earlier reviews).
I found it a little difficult at first to set the alarm but re- read the instructions and got it the 2nd time. It was also larger then I had expected.
I did not get as far as checking out recording facilities
Overall I think this is probably a very good system. However if you need a loud buzzer, like to keep the clock fast and have a penchant for pretty blue lights you may not find it your ideal system
Otherwise it looks great.
I have given 3 stars - because an alarm clock should be loud enough to wake you up and because I felt that the picture was misleading.

I Have never been more pleased with a radio ,looks great sounds excellent .I Have had a few dab radios since they came out but have been dissapointed with them, not so with this one. Well done roberts.
By spikeymike (UK)
I have owned my original Roberts radio for years - its sound quality is excellent, and it is constructed of Wood, metal, leather and (knobs and perspex screen) of plastic. It looks and feels like quality. You could probably drop it out of a 4th floor window and it would be as good as new apart from a few scratches (although I can't guarantee this - just suppostion).
So - when I decided to upgrade to DAB - Roberts was my choice and I ordered one through an Amazon trader (never have seen it "in the flesh" just a picture).
I just cannot understand the other reviewers who write about this radio's "solid quality build" - well, maybe it is - compared with most of the other stuff currently on the market, but compared with what Roberts used to produce . . . it is shoddy. You would be lucky if it survived a fall off the coffee table!
Plastic all the way (I guess here must be a few bits of metal on the inside working bits). Plastic coloured to look like wood veneer, and plastic coloured to look like metal. Even the handle (which in the picture looks like a solid chunky metal) is plastic - and not even solid plastic.
Also - its reception on DAB is not as strong as a £40 job as I have since bought from Woolies.

I recently purchased this radio as my first foray into DAB. I am hugely impressed with both the solid feeling build quality, the simplicity of use and the amazing sound quality. It seems Pure and Roberts are the leaders in this field from the limited research I conducted. For price, style and quality I think this model represents an excellent choice. I can pick up 27 radio stations and I can't emphasise enough how good the music sounds.
By Mr. Martyn Buckley (SELKIRK, Scottish Borders United Kingdom)
This is a substantial and good looking radio, the sort of thing you would expect to see on Inspector Morse's desk. Well made and good quality controls it has a large and easy to read display, although the data can seem to go across quite slowly. Easy to use with first class sound and given I can see the DAB mast from the front window I don't need the aerial up! In the Scottish Borders I am getting 20 stations but I'm sure elsewhere it will get significantly more. Some people might want more preset buttons (there are 5 per band)I don't see it as a problem - ot just means pressing a couple more buttons. Overall an excellent buy as has been every Roberts radio I have had

The sound is clear, The tone is good and the controls are easy to use.

This is a good looking little radio and I am getting great digital reception. Cannot even get Channel 5 on TV here as live in valley and was surprised I could get digital reception so very pleased. The instructions for setting presets were esay to follow. I have not had presets before and love this facility. Only slight problem I have had is that the mains lead socket in the radio seems a bit loose and radio occasionally stops and I have to readjust the lead. I am using it more on batteries now as it is easier to move from room to room but cannot yet comment on how long batteries last.
By Mr. Peter Kenyon
It is just what I expected from a name like Roberts. Great quality and good reception
By Jl Dunlop (portrush, antrim United Kingdom)
The Roberts digital radio GEMINI Dab FM .It has all the most popular stations available in this area. Has a good strong signal, sound is very clear,"not tinny"at all. Very lightweight and portable, although not using it on batteries just mains. The digital waveband seems very narrow though.
Overall,am very pleased with the Roberts Radio. Was worth buying.
By Mr. J. C. Clark (West Sussex)
Bought as a Christmas present, this great little radio is picking up and delivering a full range of DAB programmes in an area where we have had difficulty even receiving FM transmissions. Excellent value, we're dlighted.

I've had this radio three days now and have had no problems so far. This is the only digital radio that I have had so I cannot compare it to others, but I'm very happy with it. A four small complaints (you can decide how relevant they are). It feels very 'plasticy', thats not to say it feels cheap but maybe it could be a bit more solid. There's a gap between the tuning buttons through which I can see the internal circuitry, this does seem a bit poor. The volume knob doesn't seem very responsive, by which I mean I have to turn it quite a way before the volume increases. However it is quite loud, you could eaily hear it fom another room. Finally, at higher volumes it does occasionally buzz or humm a bit. This may be the radio or perhaps just because I have it on a hard surface- this isn't a serious problem just an occasional niggle.
However, despite those minor complaints, I'm glad I bought it. It's easy to use and I have no reception troubles (in the Bristol area). It seems to me to be a perfectly decent radio.

I love this Radio to bits!-with the information line and the 9 channel channel selet

The quality of the sound is very good and also reception. It is simple to use and has FM as well, although I only use DAB.

Roberts Gemini 45 DAB FM RDS Digital Radio - Black
Having renewed our kitchen radio with a slightly larger Roberts DAB Radio just over a year ago, when it came to renewing my work radio, Roberts was at the top of the list.
This is just such a great little radio. It is really easy to set up and use. Set-up consisits of plugging it in and pressing the on switch and even I can manage that and I'm a man!
Once you've switched it on, sorry, (set it up), it's just as easy to use. Stations are really easy to find by just searcing with the up or down buttons and then pressing select when you see a station that you like. It really is that simple.
For what is quite a small unit the sound is very impressive. The tone is just right and you feel as if you are listening to a much bigger radio set. The information screen is very clear and easy to read, and when the unit is running from the mains power supply, the display is backlit too.
All in all, this is a brilliant radio from a brand that continues to deliver on design, innovation and quality. You can see why they have a Royal Crest or two!
By pistolslapper (fife, scotland)
Well, this was a replacement for a highly un satisfactory PURE1. The pure could not hold a signal so returned and got the Roberts. Guess what.....The roberts done the job!! Nice looking good reception, easy to operate tidy size and reasonable sound for a medium to large sized room. Not sure the sound quality/volume would be good enough for a rowdyish party though!!
