The Toshiba AV range uses an LG LCD screen.



Problem.



This screen has a problem with lagging.



The worst effect of this is that when you look at a face you can see a red line just under where the hair meets the head.



Problem. When the person moves you get red ghosting.



If there is action forget it.



AS to its HD capability.



I got a Blue Ray player.



I watched Lord of the Rings on Blue Ray Disc.



Appaling is all i can say.

This is a great TV, the picture is stunning. One of my very first reviews was of a philips CRT which I rate as the best CRT I have seen. That must be 10 years old now but still remains to this day very very good. In general CRT TVs despite being ancient have advantages over LCDs. Namely, much better viewing angles and alot better contrast with pure blacks.



However this TV is far superior in my eyes. Firstly it looks good! I have just moved and didnt want a giant ugly 10 ton CRT in a newish flat. I dont think it would even go through the door...The picture on this Toshiba, as you would expect with a quality LCD is pin sharp, far superior to the aformentioned CRT. My dad has a newish larger Bravia TV and he thought mine was HD just through SD!! The SD picture is quite a bit better than the SD on the bravia and that cost 5 times the price so thats sayign something, although the bravia is a much larger TV.. Anyway the viewing angles are very good (nowhere near a CRT but what LCD is) and even if your room is suddenly lit up with sunlight, the TV will adjust accordingly thanks to the autoview feature on the TV. No need to mess about with the settings. The TV is far from ugly looking, it looks just like any modern TV. The logo being illuminated looks nice as well.



Downsides? The default settings are a bit dull, I would switch to dynamic (and manually tone it down if you find it too bright/saturated) but its personal preference. Even then the contrast isnt brilliant during really dark scenes despite this TVs excellent colour reproduction. The CRT is superior when it comes to detail in the dark scenes. Resolution+ doesnt seem to make any difference whatsoever when turned off..I have no idea why or why anyone would even want to turn it off but I don't see any difference? Maybe it's just always on as the picture looks close to HD quality in standard definition anyway (on certain channels, namely bbc, itv and channel 4). The sound through the speakers isn't brilliant but is good enough. Don't expect much bass though, it's very weak even when cranked up.



Overall I love the TV, the picture is superb, the sound is more than adequate and would definitely reccomend for anyone looking for a new feature packed LCD at a budget price. I dont think you will be able to find a new TV thats better value for money.

I bough this tv 15 february as a tv for our spare room. The children also used it to play games on. Early on the kids were telling me that the tv was randomly turning itself off. At first i dismissed it as i thought it may have been them sitting on the remote etc...however this got worse and the TV was continually turning itself off. Apart from being pretty weird it was very irritating. I called Amazon and they put me through to the technical support and they suggested that i reset the tvs software. I did this and 10 minutes later it turned itself off.



I called Amazon today and they have arranged to collect and refund



so one star for the product and five stars for amazons exemplary service

Excellent TV, great picture, ideal as a bedroom/kitchen TV etc.



The only real complaint is that for some strange reason the TV was supplied with a European mains lead with a 2 pin plug.



I phoned Amazon about this and they have promised to send me a UK one, after I had explained the difference, they didn't seem to understand.



Whether this was a one off error or not I don't know but it seems odd that a company the size of Toshiba should make an error like that. Everything else in the box was either in English or multi-lingual, so it clearly is not only intended for non-UK markets.



It wasn't a major problem as I had an adapter, and in any case if you are planning on hanging it on the wall with a slimline bracket you'll probably find, as I did, that the cable protrudes too much anyway. I have used a right angle adapter instead.

I recently purchased both a 32" and 26" version of this TOSHIBA MODEL. Having bought the 32" first and being well impressed with every aspect of this TV I had no hesitation in the choice of 26" TVs. But unbelievably the 26" was more expensive than the 32". Shop around and use "Discount Vouchers"

The audio is awful, but quite good via headphones. I connected it to my old Sansui amp from the headphone socket, with 2/3 attenuation and it sounds fine with the bass boost off.

The default video setting is terrible too, but reducing the colour and editing the colour temperature to flat makes the picture very good indeed.

The manual tells you what to look for but not where, and it takes a while to find the analogue TV channels are tacked on the end of the digitals from 900 up.

The receiver seems very sensitive which is superb for my poor reception, and it does everything very well once you work out how.

As per previous ratings this is a good product,annoying that you can't view the TV guide without it changing channels. It's a small niggle bearing in mind how good the product is. Makes a great bedroom TV, sound is good (however its even better with PC speakers plugged in). Well worth the money.



Let down for the first time by Amazon with the delivery, the TV never arrived on the date I was given. When chased it appeared that it was missing in action between the courier and my home (fallen off the back of a lorry?). When I emailed Amazon I got a response in 9mins and a new TV was ordered and delivered rapidly. Now that's what I call customer service!!!!!!!!!!

I took this as a replement for a 635 model which I loved, when the mains switch fell apart. Amazon don't send a repairman in and Toshiba won't help but Amazon just replace. Unfortunately they no longer had the original model in stock so I accepted this one. It is a very cut-down version and I returned it, primarily because of the less sophisticated aspect ratio switching - the 635 would remember what you wanted and repeat that whenever it saw a 4:3 signal from that input.



A decent product with a good picture, but the sound is a bit thin. I don't see it as worth saving the difference compared to the 635.
