 "heres hoping?!!!!!!!!!" 2010-06-24
By J. hodges (norfolk UK.)
great, bit small but good sound, hope it still is when switch over happens.

 "Graham's DAB excursion" 2010-04-23
By Graham Patterson (Brentwood, Essex)
As a mature customer, and new to DAB, I decided on the Roberts Ecologic 2 as it was cheapish and offered the options of of indoor mains use or total portability using the rechargeable batteries (6 required - quite expensive). I have to say that I have not been disappointed on either count. Reception, in the Brentwood, Essex area, is excellent and the batteries can be charged automatically by simply leaving the power cable connected when the radio is turned off.

Amazon,s service was excellent, as usual.

"Another review with no references to "nice bit of kit" or "does what it says on the tin" (Thank God I hear you say...)" 2010-02-14
By Island Living (London, UK)
It sounds good, it looks good, it's easy to use and is light enough to move around easily. It is, in short, the ideal portable radio from the best radio manufacturer in the world. The only question is: why does the black one cost more than the white one?

Exactly what you'd expect from a Roberts; superb tone, quality finish, compact, elegant. Auto battery charge works perfectly, switch from mains to batteries undetectable in reception.

Roberts ECO2BK Ecologic 2 DAB/FM RDS Digital Radio wth Built-in Battery Charger-black

Great product from a quality manufacturer. Excellent sound for such a compact unit. Light in weight and easy to use. It is worth buying decent high capacity rechargable batteries 2000+. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a decent DAB radio!

 "good solid radio" 2009-10-07
By Mr. Adrian P. Warren (england)
I purchased this DAB so i could get 5 live sports extra, for football essentially.

It feels solid, is fantastically easy to set up, and produces excellent sound.

it also looks pretty good in white.

The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the lack of bass control, which is always welcome when listening to talk radio.

"One of the Best Portable DAB Radios" 2009-10-02
By M. G. Chisholm (UK)
There are lots of good reasons to seriously think about this radio if you are looking for DAB. It's a Roberts and from what I have experienced means it is well designed, made and easy to use - probably the standard that all others strive for.

It's small, which makes it ideal for kitchens or in my case a workshop or used in my garden. The sound quality is first class given the obvious limitation of being mono not stereo and not, of course having a huge wattage output. Having said that I would say that it's plenty loud enough for most requirements without causing the neighbours distress. It does have a headphone output which is stereo, so a decent pair of self powered computer type speakers can be easily added for a bit more oomph.

Battery life is simply superb for a DAB radio. It uses six AA cells which can be rechargable via it's internal charger. I find this extremely thoughtful. All rechageable cells eventually die and the electronic devices with built in proprietary batteries at that point normally become unviable to have fixed. This radio just won't suffer from that problem. In my case I've had this unit for over a year and the same rechargeable 2200mA niMH batteries have remained in constant use both on the mains being charged and off mains in the garden. I still get around six hours from this radio which is much, much more than my wife's fiendeshly expensive Dualit with the now dead internal battery.

Overall I'd say without any hesitation that this is the best value portable DAB radio currently available, especially given the price.

 "Excellent radio" 2009-07-24
By D. Fitzpatrick (Warrington, UK)
This combination DAB/FM radio is really impressive. Unlike some DAB radios, the battery life seems good and I like the fact that you can use rechargeable batteries, leave the radio plugged in overnight or during the day and the batteries are recharged for you. (You have to use NiMH AA batteries).

If you want, you can use ordinary AA batteries or leave the radio plugged in of course.

It's also light and very portable, sound from speaker is mono but clear, it seems to pull in a lot of DAB stations, (more than some other DAB radios I have).

There's a useful headphone socket and 10 presets (5 on FM, 5 on DAB). Would be nice to have more but you can't have everything.

All in all, it's very good.

 "Roberts ECO4W DAB Radio" 2010-05-23
By D. Rowland (Bedford, UK)
As usual an excellent Roberts product. I now have three Roberts DAB's and all were so easy to set up. Recently we had a local electricity failure which meant listening to this radio for several hours, using batteries. It seems to be able to go forever!

 "Excellent" 2010-04-14
By TerryC (Newcastle, UK)
I am new to DAB radio, however the quality of this radio is far better than the old FM portable. It is well built, with a good display, and the sound quality is very clear. The radio is quite heavy, but I am not likly to carry it far. All told I am pleased with the appearance, the top controls, and performance.

"Well made product but DAB itself an oversold commodity" 2010-01-06
By Julian L. Halls (Norfolk)
The radio is well built , very solid and what radios stations we can get in DAB are very good, but where we put it in the kitchen is critical to maximise the number available and if I have a critiscism is that the FM components seem to have been deliberately dumbed down to make the DAB sound good. The FM reception which is very good elsewhere in the house when listened to on our old unit was fine but on this set they sound like a snake farm.

Not being cheap this is very disappointing but seems to be a universal 'fault' with DAB sets generally , not just Roberts

 "Stylish Unit." 2009-12-28
By Osorx (Wales)
A solid and stylish unit, very similar in looks to an Apple product. It is easy to set up, and I was pleasantly surprised with the number of stations that I can receive, with no break ups or interference. The sound quality is excellent. I haven't been able to verify the 150 hours battery claim yet, but as my first foray into digital radios, I am very pleased with this purchase.
