The best I can say about this Sony DAB radio alarm is that it does precisely what it claims to do, no less and no more. Not quite true - there are various bells and whistles I have yet to use, but for the most part it seems up to the job in hand. The feature I am most grateful of is the display brightness, which offers three settings to allow the screen to be dimmed to avoid disturbing sleep. Sound quality is not hifi quality, but perfectly adequate for my purposes.
The downside is the fiddly setup and menu system, which needs more than the perfunctory explanation provided in the instructions. For example, you have to run through a whole raft of options merely to turn an alarm on or off, and on at least one occasion I overslept after failing to complete said menu options first.
The design will not please everybody, being of black and white plastic and somewhat cheap and flimsy appearance. In fact, the product is certainly not cheap and is sturdier than you might imagine, but should project more of a quality image.
Other than those minor gripes, so far so good!

After reading alot of reviews I was very 50/50 if I should buy one. When I discovered I could buy this for £39 I decided to give it a go.
No compliants, my device has worked flawlessly. It is a slight premium product for the money, but the DAB radio is very clear and I was surprised by the qaulity of the sound produced by the speaker.
As an alarm clock I've experienced no issues, hopefully (in light of everyone else's reviews) this will continue.
All in all, a good alarm clock with a great radio built in.

I had an old FM/AM clock radio for 25 years until my 4 year old melted it with a lamp. I decided to splash out on a DAB to replace it (I already have a Roberts one: not too happy with that as the LCD display is impossible to read from someone short sighted like me). This display is better but I still think good ol' LED can't be beaten for visibility. The trouble is it has to be backlit and it is either too bright and casts a glow round the room like a nightlight or too dim and can't be read). Then there is usability: my old one had a switch on the top: alarm on ...alarm off... simple. This one (and the Roberts is the same ... I imagine they all work off the same chipset) requires too many button presses to set up. To switch off the alarm (which you want to do in the real world, especially after an interrupted night with a hungry baby) you end up deleting the alarm settings which all have to be entered again as far as I can see. And there are so many buttons... I think these radios are designed by engineers not designers. However at least this model is not in the retro style that infects most of the DAB gear.

This is a very good clock radio. Decent sounding, fairly loud, bright display. Does everything that you would expect of it and I would recommend it. The only thing stopping me giving it all 5 stars is the alarm on the thing which seems to take more steps than is really necessary to set (but that is nit picking really)

After a bit of searching around, I settled on this as a bedside DAB clock radio. The setup proved straightforward and it does the job. There are a number of useful alarm settings and the clock screen is dimmable (though not enough for my wife, who can't get the room dark enough - I'm not taking that personally, though). DAB reception around here is okay so I've not had any problems with that. Construction is mainly plastic, and so the sound quality isn't great, so this wouldn't do if you want to listen to music for any longer than it takes to get you up in the morning. That said, it's perfectly fine for the job it's designed to do - a radio alarm clock. I bought this at Richer Sounds quite a bit cheaper than advertised, so it's worth hunting around.
