for the money a very good all round lens, although works better between 20mm and 180mm, for sharpness good, tends to search for focus in low light too. you get what you pay for saves changing lenses all time and in good light copes well.

I have this lens on my Sony A550. It is a super lens, I have had some really great photos with it. I also have a Minolta 18-55 and a Minolta 75-300. This (almost) replaces both lenses in one. The colours are bright and clear, it works really well with the camera, no problems with focusing. The only downside is the restricted aperture at the far range, but that is always a problem unless you spend £000's on a lens and I for one am not about to.

I thought that the other lenses that weren't Canon were of the same quality.
Talked to many fotographers and all agreed.
But NOT!! I get a much sharper picture with my original canon that with this Sigma lens.
So... I am still using my old one and only when I have to zoom in far away I use the sigma.
Bummer!

I have been using the lens since Christmas and have been very pleased with the results. I have been using Sigma lens for many years and this does not disappoint. Although classed as a budget lens I have been quite satisfied with the results. It is a little soft at full aperture but stopped down to f8.0 it will certainly take an A4 enlargement and probably greater.
Some reviewers have found problems with slow focussing and lens creep. So far I have no issues with either though it is possible that these could occur in time.
Overall a great lens for the price.

Purchased this lens about a year ago. The build is excellent and it covers a very wide angle on a canon EOS cropped frame camera. It also saves you constantly changing lenses.
Unfortunately I found the photographs bog standard so I sold this lens and purchased 2 individual Canon Lens that cover this same range. One of these was a canon 55-250mm lens which gives excellent results (see the reviews on this site) and if you can manage it save up for the Canon 17-55mm, expensive yes but worth every penny (also see reviews of this on Amazon and other web sites)
