"It's changed the way i look at things." 2010-05-17
By M. J. Gleaves (United Kingdom)
Having owned a Nikon D80 camera for a number of years now I was happy with the results of the kit zoom lens i got bundled with the camera. The picture was pretty good quality, fairly decent sharpness, slight darkening of the corners but fixable in photoshop, all seemed well. I must admit my photography was becoming a little stale, zooming in on this and that without any real composition, snapping happily away. All this has now changed with the purchase of this lens, it really has opened up a whole new world of possibilities to me (i know that sounds guff, but stick with me). Firstly, this lens is the sharpest i've ever seen, i can pretty much zoom right in using photoshop and still not see the edges of pixels, it really is that sharp. I really didn't think this possible with just the modest D80 but i'm really blown away. Textures taken quite close such as the bark of a tree, or the cracked underside of a boat look simply incredible, with great colour. It's depth of field is superb, with portraits having the lovely blurred (bokeh) effect behind the subject, whilst still maintaining pin sharp image quality on the subject. I could go on for ages about this lens, all you need to know is that it has changed the way i look at things, i have to now move closure to my subject if i want it larger in my picture making me think about composure a lot more (which is a good thing), and black and white pictures now have the detail they need. Please don't stick with your kit lens, i really shouldn't of for so long.

"good & affordable but AF doesn't work with D5000" 2010-05-09
By A. Ismail
Acquired this lens on a whim. Have just acquired a Nikkor 18-200 lens for my D5000 but thought this would be a great addition too. Have taken great indoor pictures but had to manually focus. An acceptable compromise for the price.

 "Great lens..." 2010-04-25
By Starchild (Gloucestershire, UK)
This lens was recommended to me by a friend and I think it's great. Im just getting used to it. I have a D3000 and not had it that long, but wanted to get better results for a closer range than the basic lens it came with. It's definitely faster and can capture something close up or far away really clearly. I would definitely recommend this lens. :o)

"A must own lens for any Nikon photographer" 2010-04-25
By Edward Jones (Cheshire)
Great value for money, stunning photos, easy to use, Quiet, fast, lightweight, works a dream with the D90 and also not too difficult to manually focus on the D40. Just buy one, you won't be disappointed!

"Great Lens (D60 owners read)" 2010-04-21
By Mo Shivji (Kent, UK)
This is a great lens for the price. However I did not realise that I could not use AF on this lens with a Nikon D60. I have decided to keep this lens as it will work with any future Nikon DSLR that I will upgrade to. This is a 'must have lens' for any Nikon user.
