I bought this great little radio to accompany me in the garden. DAB reception in our area is poor so I am thrilled that this has caused very little problem for this radio once the aerial is fully extended. No handle results in the aerial being used as a substitute handle though! It has remained fully charged so no problems there, though I must say, I'm a bit of a fair weather gardener making the most of the sunny days.

done the initial 24 hr mains charge, radio very easy to set up and good sound, after a couple days out in the garden i noticed that the battery indicator was going down dispite being in full sun. Now the radio is turning itself off and is not charging via solar panel. Have phoned roberts technical support and they have advised that the charging system is faulty

The best radio we have every bought. classy appearance, user friendly to handle. Controls very easy to use and logically laid out. Station tuning an innovation and reception brilliant. Solar power option a bonus. Great value for money. We will probably be buying another Roberts and junk another radio we have.

Though not that cheap for its size, been using it on a regular basis and had to charge it only once(the initial charge). It gets used on our allotment(its windy) and the volume is great. Saying all this not sure it will last the 27 hours the instructions claim, however I listen on a high volume, on a bright sunny day it charges up well. We leave it on our window ledge when not being used and the sun does all the work. Excellent buy, off camping soon this will test it as it does not have an in car charger(perhaps Roberts should provide one, even greener!)

As long as the radio is left in a sunny place - windowsill for example - it continues to charge but is also backed up by the initial plug-in charge. Reasonable tone, compact and durable casing. Great for carrying around the house or listening to outdoors. The price was well below shop prices and the supplier - Hughes direct - was absolutely fantastic. The radio arrived within a couple of days and the transaction was backed up by e mail info on its status so I always knew what was happening - a very streamlined and efficient service.
