The Apex Starter's Microscope Slide Kit is a sensible collection of essentials for anyone buying their first microscope.
For those new to this fascinating world the kit includes 100 quality ground glass slides, 100 glass covers (to keep the sample flat on the slide), 10 cavity well slides (suitable for small liquid preparations like pond water), 10 pipettes and a jar of glycerine jelly.
The package is nicely rounded off with a copy of Richard Headstrom's excellent Adventures with a Microscope - a slightly dated publication (it was written in 1941) - but as interesting and useful today as it was when it was first written.
The package also includes a set of sample slides. My set contained seven slides of beetle parts but I would assume the samples may vary.
