With the end of FM in sight, and our old radio-cassette recorder broken, we needed to come into the 21st Century with a DAB Radio that has a record function. We looked at Roberts and Pure, as they seem to be the only ones (in England) that have a model which records. Roberts was too expensive so we bought the Pure Evoke-3 Portable Stereo DAB Radio and its associated re-chargeable battery pack. We also had to buy a SanDisk to record onto. The Pure Evoke-3 is a beautiful looking piece of equipment which has a very nice tone. The functions do take a bit of "techie-savvy", (or it might be that I'm too old to understand all the bells and whistels!), but once you've mastered the record to SanDisk and delete-recording functions this is a crackin' piece of equipment! I would certainly recommend Pure to anyone who wants a DAB radio, (we now have their smaller Pure-One, portable radio, too), and once you've learned the "techie-bit", the ease of recording/deleting to a memory card is SO much easier than cassette tapes!
Amazon's price couldn't be beaten when we purchased this, too, and it was delivered in next to no time.

I'm delighted with this radio and the service from Amazon. The sound is fairly good and the many features make it a very good buy as a portable DAB radio. I find the review facility most useful and the information panel is clear
Having read other reviews on Amazon before ordering I was aware that sometimes buyers are sent a faulty product, mainly a radio that switches itself on from standby. Mine did this and , when I was certain it wasn't forgetfulness on my part, I sent it back and received a new one with costs refunded.
The other bad point I that if a SD Memory card is in place the radio frequently records data to it and during recording you cannot change programmes or switch off. So I keep a card out.

The pleasure of this radio is sadly short lived, as a growing number of us are discovering. My first one gave up the ghost while still under warranty. Ok - things can go wrong. I was without a radio for a month but they replaced it with a new one. One year later (admittedly, a pleasurable year of brilliant radio sound), and the new radio has developed a (different) fault: the tuning knob has stopped working. Off it goes to Pure. Another month for them to fix it or replace it. At around £200, I'd expect several decades of service, not a mere 12 months. I'd advise thinking very carefully before buying one. Or at least check out the feedback from a large number of unhappy Pure customers. For a brief, expensive fling, fine. For a long term and meaningful relationship, I'd buy another brand.

Having experienced a digital radio when they first came out I found the Pure Evoke 3 to be beyond all expectations. We are in a very poor reception area due to living in a bowl in the landscape and the new radio picks up nearly all stations with great clarity and reliability in all but a few minor spots around the house. It is also a reliable alarm clock!

From "Woman's Hour" to Jeremy Vine and very disapointedly George Galloway left Talk Sport I live my daily companion.
Love the clarity of tone and the easy selection of programmes. With the recording facility I will never miss Desert Island Disks again.
