An absolutely wonderful lens, which opened up a new photographic world to me. That, of the amazing wide angle photography world. If it were not for the affordable price, I would have missed that exciting photographic opportunity. It is razor sharp too and the colours are nicely warm and saturated.

this is a very good wide angle lens if you are low on budget.
this is not a fish eye so straight lines remain straight.

There's not much to say really - if you want a wide angle (and you DO want it because of all those funky angles and distortions it creates) and have been considering Sigma 10-20,
Nikon 10-24 or 12-24, or Tamron 10-24 - consider no longer, for Tokina 11-16 beats them all in every single respect. So it has smaller zoom range. But WHO in their right mind uses a wide angle at a focal lenght other than it's WIDEST?? Simply use it at 11mm and zoom in only when you really need it (you won't, trust me). Difference between 10mm and 11mm is marginal and unnoticeable in practice. With Tokina you get CONSTANT aperture of F2.8, and it is SHARP. What happens when you stop down? You CUT yourself sharp. I've seen example photos taken with already legendary 14-24 on FX, and trust me - this Tokina is so close you can't even tell the difference unless you do some serious (and pointless) pixel-peeping.
Did I mention this is also much cheaper than any other wide lense for DX from Nikon?
If you don't buy it then... someone else will, and they'll be much more clever than you! Seriously though, this lense IS the best wide angle for DX cameras. End of.

It's a great lens if one prefers to sacrifice an extended zoom range for both luminosity and a good price. It is very well build and produces very sharp and detailed images with good colour and balanced contrast transitions. I would recomend it to the ones I love :)

This lens is very very good (Ken Rockwell already said that!).
It has the slightly cold color reproduction the Tokina 12-24 also had (and
wich i simply Love!!).. And its build (like all Tokinas) like a tank. I
have no worrys dragging this beast around with me, be it mounted on the body or floating around in my backpack.
It is wide!! really wide.. It never reaches the focal range where things begin
to look and behave normally.. So if you wants to go wide, with all what that implies.. This is the lens for you!.. Forget about using it as a normal wide zoom. Its not for 'walking around' shooting in citys, its pretty useless actually in most of those cases.
Buy it only if you specifically wants to create fantastic wide angle photos.. Forget all about it, if you only where to buy and bring one lens with you as you go..
Did I remember to tell you how much I love this lens.! :)
