"Great sound quality and reception but no handle on a portable radio??" 2009-03-15
By S. GANNON (UK)
My husband bought me this radio for my birthday - first of all it's very pink (but i sort of like that). The sound quality and reception is excellent - far superior to our other DAB and it's really easy to use. I am far from technical but i managed to figure out how to tune to the different channels with no problems.

My main gripe about the radio is the 'portableness' of the unit. I like to carry the radio around the house with me doing chores etc but this radio doesn't have handle?? The battery life is also very very poor - Duracell batteries lasted less than a week (and i work full time so this is only used at weekends and evenings). I am hoping to rectify this issue by buying the Chargepack so fingers crossed. One other niggle is that the plastic backing to the battery section is fragile - i managed to snap a small part off just opening it up to change the batteries.

So would i buy this radio? To be honest - it has lots of plusses and my husband thinks it's great but i think next time i will look for something more 'portable'.

 "not impressed!" 2009-02-03
By L. Smith
I agree with a few of the other comments here, this does feel cheap. Evidently I didnt have wonderful DAB coverage in High Wycombe as I couldnt get many stations. Sounds was ok, but the interface is rubbish.

I sent mine back & bought a Wireless Internet Radio instead - much better.

I dont think DAB is going to take off the way FM radio did - this will be dropped the minute something better comes along.

Summary: too cheap feeling, bad interface, ok sound. NOT RECOMMENDED!

 "Brilliant!" 2008-03-08
By Alithom (Farnham, UK)
I have wanted on of these for years, so I did my research and discovered Pure is a top brand. I have been very pleased with the sound quality, and the fact I can get my local radio station (which I was never able to). I am also very pleased with the colour - PINK! - it brightens up my life.

 "Love it!" 2008-01-24
By newsgirl (Reading, England)
My husband got me this for Christmas, and I love it! The sound is surprisingly good, as good as a radio with stereo speakers, I think. And it clearly picks up many DAB stations (my bedside clock radio only gets one station clearly, so I'm happy to have a choice of stations). The built-in timer even came in handy when I misplaced the kitchen timer. Highly recommended.

"cracking little radio for the price" 2007-12-11
By J. Brand (UK)
Excellent little DAB radio

This really is a cracking little radio for the price. Many people have grown accustomed to DAB radios costing a hundred pounds and upwards so to see their price coming down recently it's reassuring to see that the quality has stayed as high as it was.

Having moved to an area where FM reception was virtually non existent we decided to supplement our (admittedly very nice but also very expensive) roberts DAB with another couple of DABs for the house. The Pure One is definitely the best of those new radios. The case looks a bit plastic but on the whole it's an unobtrusive piece of kit and just sits there doing its job. It found all the major stations and a whole range of minor stations, certainly far more than we could ever find on FM, and if you still can't find what you want then FM is available.

Some of the features seem a bit silly. For example the preset station is almost as cumbersome as selecting the station without the presets. To select a station without the presets press 'station' and turn the main dial to your station. To use the presets press 'preset' and turn the main dial to your station. But with 20 presets that's as long winded as the non preset method! It has a kitchen timer built in for no readily apparent reason that I can see. It has a sleep timer which is sort of useful I suppose but wouldn't it be a good idea to put in a wake up timer as well? the radio knows the time so would it be so hard to do?It also has the ability should you really want it to be able to update the radio's software, though I can't really see anyone being desparately worried about doing that. If they really wanted to add features then why not pause and rewind? But then again it is a cheap DAB radio.

All in all a cracking little radio for the money. Remarkably good sound quality for a little box, unobtrusive and very usable.
