 "Plasma Problems" 2010-05-23
By J Edwards
If you are considering buying a Plasma TV, check with your local Radio Investigaion Service first. Plasma Sets are known for radiating RF (radio frequency)noise from the screen, which is picked up on your broadcast radio receivers. It is also a potential source of interference to aeronautical services. Also, if radiated noise gets onto your phone line, the noise can slow down your internet connection (information being sent down the line has problems due to noise on the line). Do a search for 'Plasma TV QRM' or 'Plasma TV Interference' on Youtube and see what the interference sounds like. Not nice!

 "Panasonic Plasma TV" 2010-03-23

Entry level plasma television from Panasonic's 2009 X10 range. Excellent value with smooth picture. Onlt 100hz and 720P OR 1080I resolution but definition is excellent and the picture is much better (smoother, faster, more realistic) than equivalent LCD's at similar price points. Excellent HD picture too.

Would recommend.

I bought this Television bout 5 weeks ago. along with Promount Swivel & Tilt Cantilever Arm LED Plasma LCD TV Wall Mount VESA Bracket For Panasonic Wide flat screen panel TV's 37 40 42 46 48 50.

Both items were delivered together within 4 working day.

I collected them from my parents house (where I had them delivered) the following weekend with my girlfriend. We easily managed to load and unload the car although the bracket was suprisingly heavier that it looks but still not a problem.

Assembling and fixing to the wall was straight forward for both bracket and telly. Would have taken me an hour but i need to nip out and purchase a 12mm drill bit to fix the bracket to the wall.

The bracket has a handy inbuilt spirit level which made leveling the bracket easier (slightly ackward holding bracket in place to mark where to dill the holes due to the weight of the bracket) although having the bracket level points out the wall paper I hung a few weeks before isn;t quiet level (maybe next time I need to purchase the wall paper with an inbuilt spirit level lol!!).

Know the viewing the bracket allows for a range of angles and I can nearly get the telly all the way to the corner of the room with the arm at full extention (usually in middle of 4m wall).

The set up was very simple and I was view my new telly in no time. I do not have Sky HD or Blue ray player so cannot comment on the HD quality but the standard quality in execellent for sports films and general tv viewing.

The number of connectionis also execellent with standard TVa airel, 2x scart, 2x HDMI, PC socket and others. (I wont particularly use all these but is worth bearing in mind as my sister purchased a similar telly recently and it didn;t have half the conections of the Panisonic).

All in All

Completly happy with both purchase and the order/delivery process.

 "Great buy" 2010-02-15

After shopping around Amazon offered the best price on this TV. It was so easy to set up; just fix the stand, plug in and switch the power on and the set did the rest (bearing in mind I am a female and not clued up technically)I am using it with Freeview. The picture quality is fantastic, the sound quality superb, I was worried that the size of the set would be overpowering in the room but it's perfect. I wasn't looking for a all singing all dancing TV and realise that Panasonic have already advanced the technology on this TV however I am more than happy with my purchase.

"Don't leave it too late." 2010-01-30

Bought this Panasonic to replace a Samsung LCD 40" TV, which was to be fair, pretty damn good. However, as with all LCD screens, depth is sadly lacking and ocassionally, motion blur can occur, for instance whilst watching the ball in a football or rugby match. I looked at all the reviews for both LCD and plasma, then did some further in-shop research and decided to go for the 42" plasma. At 37 kgs, it is no lightweight, but these are generation 2, so much lighter than the earlier model which tipped the scales at 45kgs. As other reviewers have commented, picture quality is brilliant, with rich vibrant colours and that all important depth of field. No motion blur either. Rear connections are well catered for, although disappointing to see no optical digital (Toslink) output. This TV can be wall mounted, but at 37kgs, be careful just where you do mount it. As my other AV equipment is Panasonic, Viera Link connects all with just one remote control. Built-in Freeview tuner is sensitive and easy to use. It used to be said that Plasma TV's eat the lecky, but here are some interesting facts; Samsung 40" LCD consumed 183 watts whilst this Panasonic uses 186 watts. Clearly the energy use gap is narrowing. My son-in-law has an early Panasonic Plasma 37" which uses 386 watts, so Panasonic have obviously done some work here. Please do bear in mind that despite all the HDMI and component inputs/outputs, this TV is HD Ready. It is NOT full HD. However, this only really becomes apparent if you watch a Blu-ray DVD close up. Easy solution is don't sit too close to the screen, then you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Sound quality from any flat screen TV is not going to be brilliant, and here this is also very much the case. Hook it all up to a home cinema system and it is no an longer an issue.

The price?. Well, quite simply, you won't find a better entry level plasma TV from any of the major brands. So don't leave it too late.
