 "Ideal for The Archers" 2010-04-26
By Ian Walker (Epworth Lincs United Kingdom)
We have had this radio for a year now and it has been an excellent buy; we use it mainly for Radio 4, 5live & 7. The sound quality is good for its size and the fact that the batteries are charged within the unit is most convenient; no separate chargers to bother with Because it is always left plugged in when not in use we cannot complain that it eats batteries as they have never gone flat.

Criticisms are that it was not easy (in April 2009) to find a dealer who had one. We eventually bought one from an independent retailer on the grounds that they would know what they were talking about. They sold us the batteries too and when we got it home we found that we had four and it needed six! (Naturally the batteries come in packs of four so we now have two spare ones which power two clocks). It takes me some time to work out how to tune to 5live Sports extra when the Test Matches start and recently it has developed a habit of switching itself back on just as you have got downstairs. For these reasons I only give it four stars but it is excellent for those long baths.

 "Very functional" 2010-03-24
By S. Coffey (Yorkshire, UK.)
I bought the ECO2W as a replacement for the Roberts Gemini 49 -which is now no longer in production. If you looking for a digital radio to use in the car, carry round the house/garden when you're doing chores then this is perfect. The rechargeable batteries have a long life and can be re-charged in a matter of hours. As for sound quality and volume, it is loud enough to be heard in the noisiest of cars and the sound will carry about 50 feet outdoors. It is very tough and hard-wearing, as I have knocked it over many times and it keeps on going. Good value and highly recommended.

 "Excellent rechargeable DAB radio" 2009-12-20
By Marcher (A Lush Lawn Suburb, England)
I've been really happy with this Robert's DAB model - it's slimline and has a pleasingly ageless design. The rechargeable batteries make it versatile and for me, more usable. Sound quality is fine - but probably average and why I haven't given 5 stars - however it does have a standard headphone jack and a proper, satisfying volume knob rather than +/- buttons, which compensates in my opinion. However for the money, this model is excellent value, offering every feature a simple DAB radio needs to please the user. If I had the sort of money a top class DAB radio like the ecologic 3 costs, I would have bought a logitech squeezebox and streamed all manner of media around - but for a simple DAB, this certainly cuts the mustard.
